About
Deborah Liljegren grew up in an artistic family and was exposed to multiple media and techniques at an early age. As a result, she has employed her creativity within a wide spectrum of completed works. Her drawings, paintings, and photographs are part of numerous private collections.
Drawings
Much of her drawing skill and subject matter comes from studying fashion illustration. Her works are often figure-focused and detailed. She found a great deal of technical inspiration from the work of George Stavrinos.
Painting
Perhaps because of her detailed work within her drawings, her paintings, though still very involved, are more fluid. Colors seem to flow together even when fully complementary to one another. Many feature figurative forms - some obvious, some more subtle - incorporated within the folds of color. Her more abstract works have been compared to the art child of Franz Marc and Georgia O'Keeffe.
Photography
Deb has been photographing for more than 20 years and has had the opportunity to have worked alongside and learned from some very talented photographers. Her photographs reflect slices of life and she uses a unique method of working with available light in order to convey those moments. Always having had an affinity for the water, she learned to scuba dive more than a dozen years ago and has created photographs that make you forget that these beautiful images are created deep below the water's surface. Her commissioned underwater photography can be found in editorial and commercial work.
